PRIMEX’s 29th Anniversary Celebration

PRIMEX celebrated its 29th anniversary with a Thanksgiving Mass and a breakfast for the staff at Sentro 1771, Capitol Commons. Mr. Jose P. Leviste, Jr., Chairman of the Board, Ms. Elvira C. Ablaza, President and CEO, and Dr. Jerome F. Sison, Director and Corporate Treasurer joined the gathering. Executive Vice President Mr. Guillermo L. Morales (not in photo), expressed his gratitude to all PRIMEX staff, consultants, and supporters. “Today is a day of great thanksgiving because of the kindness and grace of God who saw us through the years to reach this 29th year of our corporate existence and performance. To Him be the praises and glory,” he said.

Members of the PRIMEX Executive Committee, including Elvira C. Ablaza (President and CEO), Engr Estelita Y. Gutierrez (Executive Vice President), and Mar P. Gapud (Senior Financial Adviser), met with Eiji Yonezawa, President of Oriental Consultants Global (OCG), Japan and Ryohei Ishii, OCG’s General Manager, Dhaka Office on 26 June 2018 at PRIMEX Office to discuss business opportunities in the region. PRIMEX and OCG are joint venture partners in implementing the ADB loan-funded Uplands Irrigation and Water Resources Management Sector Project (Loan 3289-CAM) in Cambodia which will run from February 2016 to February 2021.

PRIMEX’s KM Specialist share lessons on environmental communication during the ADCEP conference

PRIMEX Senior Technical Services Officer and Knowledge Management Specialist, Ms. Lourdes Margarita A. Caballero, served as one of the plenary speakers during the 2017 National Conference and 7th Annual Scientific Meeting Association of Development Communication Educators and Practitioners (ADCEP) Philippines Inc. on 30 November – 3 December 2017 at the West Visayas State University, Iloilo City.
Caballero discussed the role of development communication (devcom) in environmental communication during the session on “Devcom in Different Fields.” She shared key lessons from her stint as Communication and Public Awareness Specialist in the ADB-funded project Coastal and Marine Resources Management in the Coral Triangle-Southeast Asia (RETA 7813). She also gave copies of the book “Beacons: Stories from the Coral Triangle-Philippines” to ADCEP members including the Keynote Speaker, Dr. Ramon R. Tuazon, Chair of the Technical Committee on Communication, Commission on Higher Education.
PRIMEX President shares challenges and lessons in conducting EAFM projects during a regional workshop in Bangkok

PRIMEX President and CEO Ms. Elvira C. Ablaza presented the issues and lessons from implementing Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM) projects in the Coral Triangle during the Southeast Asia Fisheries Management Planning Workshop which was held on 23-25 August 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center in collaboration with the Oceans and Fisheries Partnership (USAIDOceans) invited Ms. Ablaza as one of the speakers to the workshop which gathered about 100 participants.
Ablaza based her presentation on the outcomes of the EAFM projects supported by the ADB-funded Coastal and Marine Resources Management in the Coral Triangle-Southeast Asia where she serves as the Project Director. The five-year regional technical assistance project has been working with local, national, and regional partners to apply the EAFM approach in Kwandang Bay in Indonesia, Semporna in Sabah, and Dumanquillas Bay in the Philippines since 2012.
She identified the fisheries management issues and problems in each site as well as the lessons learned and opportunities. Mr. Raul Roldan, Deputy Director for the Philippine Project Management Unit of RETA 7813 also attended the event.
SEAFDEC plans to summarize the experiences and lessons of fisheries management implementation in the Southeast Asian region and prepare a regional technical publication.

PRIMEX Senior Management attends the 49th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank

PRIMEX President and CEO Elvira C. Ablaza and Dr. Jerome F. Sison, PRIMEX Director and Corporate Treasurer, participated in the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) 49th Annual Meeting which was held in Frankfurt, Germany from 2-5 May 2016. PRIMEX was invited to this event which brings together Governors of ADB member countries to provide guidance on ADB administrative, financial, and operational directions.
It offers a platform for decision makers to discuss economic, financial, and social policies and programs, including solutions that help shape the future of Asia and the Pacific. The theme of the Frankfurt Annual Meeting is “Cooperating for Sustainability.”
In his opening address, ADB President Takehiko Nakao emphasised the importance of creating quality jobs, developing the private sector, and combating climate change are critical for a vibrant and sustainable region. 2016 is a landmark year for ADB as it celebrates its 50th year.

PRIMEX President and CEO Elvira C. Ablaza shared her insights in partnering with NGOs and civil society organizations during the 7th ADB Business Opportunities Fair. Ms Ablaza was one of the two speakers invited by ADB. The other speaker was from World Vision International.
Lainie Thomas, Social Development Specialist (Civil Society and Participation) of ADB’s Southeast Asia Department and one of the session organizers, said that she received several emails from participants after the talk complementing Ms. Ablaza on her contribution.

Leviste launched his book, “If the Philippines had a Lee Kuan Yew,” at the McKinley Room of the Manila Polo Club in Makati City on 16 September 2015. PRIMEX Executive Vice President Guillermo Morales, Senior Vice President Estelita Gutierrez, Board of Directors Jose D. Leviste III and Luis Gerardo A. Baluyut, and Assistant Manager for Project Operations Lourdes Margarita Caballero attended the launch. Former President Fidel V. Ramos was one of the guests along with other respected names from the government and business circles. PRIMEX is the publisher of the book.
