Mr. Nestor “Stong” P. Escara joined PRIMEX as its Manager for Project Operations on 4 January 2016. He will lead PRIMEX’s project operations staff in providing technical and administrative backstopping support to consultant teams implementing the Company’s ongoing projects in the Philippines and overseas.
“Stong’s entry into PRIMEX management comes at a perfect time. We will need his support as we embark on new projects this year and strengthen our portfolio in infrastructure and education in the Greater Mekong Subregion,” said Mr. Leo Pura, PRIMEX Vice President for Technical Services.
Prior to joining PRIMEX, Mr. Escara served as the Site Coordinator for Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur of the USAID-funded Ecosystems Improved for Sustainable Fisheries (ECOFISH) Program from 2012 to 2015. His familiarity with project operations stems from his long experience in coordinating activities for several regions during his stint with the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR)-funded projects.
He served as the Regional Coordinator for Regions 9, 10, 12, and CARAGA Region in the Fisheries Resource Management Project from 1997 to 2001 and as Coastal Resource Management Coordinator for Panguil Bay (Regions 9, 10, and 12) for the Fisheries Sector Program from 1992 to 1996.
Aside from coastal resource management, Mr. Escara also worked as freelance Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) specialist for health and coastal resource management projects, such as the Asian Development Bank-funded Anti-Dengue Campaign, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-funded Integrated Coastal Resources Management Project (ICRMP), and the Sustainable Management of Coastal Resources of BFAR.
Mr. Escara completed his Master in Marine Management from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in 2002 and his Bachelor in Fisheries Management from the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman in 1985.
